Vets Mile at the NSC Track in Douglas

The Vets Mile, held over four laps on the NSC Track on Wednesday 22 July in favourable conditions, was hosted by the Isle of Man Athletics Association on behalf of the Isle of Man Veteran Athletes’ Club. Photos: Steph Burrell

A total of 17 athletes took part in the event, with an impressive seven runners finishing in under six minutes. Steven Baker Quayle initially led the field but Paul Jennings had taken the lead by the second lap and gradually pulled away to win in an excellent time of just over five minutes.

In the lady’s race, Jayne Farquhar & Gail Shelley ran close together until Gail managed to pull away to take the win.

Mike Garrett claimed the Arthur Currie & Fred Ward Memorial Cup as the fastest competing member of the Isle of Man Veteran Athletes’ Club. Congratulations to all who took part. Results:
