MARATHON NOTES .......It's less than one month now until the Salclear Isle of Man Marathon & Half Marathon races take place. Entries are coming in from all parts of the globe - Spain; Italy; France; Germany; Ireland; Guernsey; Poland; Dubai; Singapore; Canada and Texas and Arizona, USA - so this year's races will have a truly international feel to them.
Our regular wheelchair racer, Gerry Forde, will be back again, and the winners of last year's Isle of Man Marathon Championships - Karen Lawrie and Mark Clague - will both be defending their titles.
Steve Edwards is aiming to run 500 marathons before he reaches his 50th birthday in 2012 He ran here last year and enjoyed it so much he is coming back for more. This will be his 454th marathon. Read his latest progress report by clicking on the link on this website.
As part of his exploits Steve undertook the recent "10 Marathons in 10 Days" challenge and won it. Co-incidentally, the lady winner of this challenge - Michelle Atkins - has also entered our marathon this year.
As usual the Marathon race incorporates the Isle of Man Marathon Championship and the closing date for being included in this championship is 31st July. Non-championship marathon runners and entrants for the half marathon can still enter after this date, but we'd prefer it if you didn't leave it until the last minute!
