The IOM Veteran Athletes Club20 Mile Road Race, sponsored by Acclaim Limited took place on Sunday morning on the NSC Perimeter Road.

With perfect weather conditions for early March, the event attracted 27 runners who were either putting the final touches to their marathon training plans or simply testing themselves over 40 laps.

In the Men’s category, Jamie Newton won with a time of 02:01:18. After running together for most of the race, Matt Callister pulled away and just took 2^nd place in a time of 02:05:24 followed closely in 3rd by Paul Jennings who finished in 05:05:58. A special mention goes to Michael Loundes who set a new record in the Mens 70+ category with a time of 02:39:07.

Sarah Webster took first place in the Ladies category with a time of 02:07:27. Dawn Atherton came second in 02:27:18 with Joanne Schade finishing third in 02:40:33 and in turn setting a new Ladies 55 category record. Another special mention goes to Rosie Craine who set a new record in the Ladies 50 category of 02:29:58.
